SAWTOOTH MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE

2024 Race Cancelled

SCA was excited to offer this first race on the Jackpot/High Climber trails and wanted to showcase one of the best singletrack trails in the state. Unfortunately, the extreme amount of rain that fell on these trails this spring and summer damaged the trails and are a concern until rehab can be completed later this summer and fall.

The Superior Cycling Association will be working with Dirt Candy Designs to complete the rehab of the High Climber trail and bring it back to the quality that riders expect. Plans are already underway for the 2025 MN MTB Fest and Sawtooth Challenge race scheduled for August 22-24, 2025.

About the Sawtooth Challenge Mountain Bike Race

Starting at 10am at the old Tofte airport off the Sawbill Trail in Tofte, riders will climb over 400 feet in elevation on the Sawbill Trail (paved road) in two miles before entering the singletrack trails at the Britton Peak trailhead. From there it is 16 miles on some of the best singletrack this state has to offer, with everything from fast and flowy descents, big climbs, massive rock armoring, incredible views, and challenges galore. The finish will be at Caribou Highlands Resort at Lutsen Mountains where crowds will gather for the after-race party, awards, and festivities of music, food, and beer.
